FAQs

Commercial charging — questions we hear most

How many chargers can my site realistically support?
Depends on your incoming supply. A single-phase 100A supply comfortably runs 4–6 load-balanced 7kW units. Three-phase sites can scale to 20+ AC chargers, or a couple of 50kW rapids, without a DNO upgrade.
What's the lead time for a commercial install?
Single workplace units: 2–3 weeks from survey. Larger arrays (8+ chargers) typically 4–8 weeks because of DNO notification, civils and back-office setup. Rapid DC sites take longer if a new supply is needed.
Can the Workplace Charging Scheme be combined with other funding?
WCS gives you up to £350 per socket for the first 40 sockets. It can sit alongside Salix loans for public sector sites and some local authority grants — we apply for the stack you're eligible for.
How do you route cables across a car park without trenching everywhere?
Most sites use a combination of perimeter cable trays, bollard-mounted feeds, and short trenched runs only where unavoidable. Where the supply is far from the bays, a sub-board near the chargers cuts cable cost dramatically.
Can drivers be billed automatically?
Yes. We set up RFID, app payment or contactless terminals, with revenue share or flat tariff per kWh. Reporting handles VAT and reimbursement to staff with company EVs.
