About

A wee Glasgow team that only does EV chargers

Three full-time installers, one office in the city, and a stubborn refusal to subcontract jobs out. We started this because we got tired of seeing folk overcharged and underserved by the big national outfits.

How we got started

Glasgow EV Installer was set up by a couple of NICEIC sparks who'd spent years fitting chargers for the national chains. The job itself was fine. What wasn't fine was the experience customers were getting — call centres in Manchester, surveyors who'd never been to Scotland, and quotes that quietly grew on the day because nobody had actually looked at the property.

So we started doing it the way we'd want it done. Local engineers. Same person quotes and installs. Honest pricing, no upsell theatre. A few hundred installs in we're still doing it the same way — across Glasgow, Paisley, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Clydebank, Bearsden and the rest of the central belt.

The folk who'll be at your door

Meet the engineers

Three full-time installers — no subcontractors, no national call centre. The same person who quotes your job will usually be the one fitting it.

Daniel Whyte

Lead Installer

Glasgow-born sparky, 12 years on the tools. Started out doing rewires on West End tenements, switched to EV full-time in 2019. Likes a tidy cable run more than is probably healthy.

Senior Installer

Came up through commercial work in Lanarkshire before specialising in EV. The one we send to anything with a tricky DNO notification — he's on first-name terms with SP Energy Networks.

Why local matters

A national installer doesn't know your back close

Most national EV companies work through a network of subcontractors — the person quoting you isn't the person fitting it, and neither of them has stood on your street before. That's how you end up with a "standard install" quote that quietly grows by £400 on the day.

We live and work here. We know which Bearsden villas have rear garages served by an old sub-main, which East Kilbride estates were wired with modern consumer units from day one, and which Glasgow tenements need a quiet word with the factor before anything goes on the wall.

  • Same engineer surveys, quotes and installs — no handover gaps.
  • We've seen most Scottish housing types before. Few surprises on the day.
  • Honest pricing because we don't carry national overheads.
  • If something needs aftercare, we're 20 minutes away — not a ticket queue.
  • Local supplier relationships keep wait times short on parts.
