The questions Glasgow and central-Scotland homeowners actually ask us during surveys.
- Can you install an EV charger on a Glasgow tenement?
- Often yes — with factor permission and a sensible cable route to a back court or allocated bay. We've completed installs across the West End, Southside and along the Clyde corridor. The bigger question is usually parking: if you don't have a dedicated bay, on-street solutions become the conversation.
- Are sandstone terraces harder to install on?
- Slightly. We use stainless fixings, drill carefully through soft Scottish sandstone, and route cables along existing pointing or service ducts so the front elevation stays tidy. It adds maybe 30 minutes to a typical job.
- Do East Kilbride new builds need DNO approval?
- Usually no — most G74 and G75 builds from the last decade have modern consumer units rated for a 32A EV circuit, and a 7kW charger only needs a notification (not approval) under G98. We handle the paperwork either way.
- What if my driveway is on the other side of the building?
- Common in Bearsden villas and Hamilton estates. We plan the cable run during the free survey — sometimes via the loft, sometimes around the eaves with matched trunking. We'll show you the route before any drilling starts.
- Are there Scotland-specific grants on top of OZEV?
- The Energy Saving Trust used to run a Scottish-only EV charger loan scheme; the current landscape changes year to year, so we always check what's open at the time of your quote. The OZEV chargepoint grant remains the main one for eligible flat owners and renters.
- Do you charge more for jobs outside Glasgow?
- No. Paisley, East Kilbride, Hamilton, Clydebank, Bearsden, Motherwell and Renfrew are all part of our standard service area — same engineers, same pricing.
